READING PROGRAMS
Monthly Reading Promotions
Each month a new reading promotion is sent home in Friday Folders. Students are asked to either read books or do a little research. Then they turn in the completed form to the Media Center for a prize!
Community Sponsored Reading Programs
NES also supports and encourages participation in a number of community reading promotions. These include Pizza Hut's Book It!, Gladiator’s Hat Trick for Reading, Hawk’s Fast Break for Reading, Six Flags Read to Succeed, and the Gwinnett Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Students can earn product coupons and tickets to a variety of sporting events.
Student Book Reviews
Students can write "Shelf Talker" reviews of books they enjoyed onto index cards which will then be posted on the book shelves. They are also encouraged to add to our "My What Big Books You've Read!" bulletin board on which students can post the names of books that they would like to share with friends.
